There’s nothing like buying makeup when you’re not leaving your house, and when you do you’re wearing a mask, right? With a gift card and an expiring free birthday gift, it seemed like a good time to place a Sephora order. Here’s what I got: […]

I had refrained from making any Sephora purchases for a good portion of the year. But with my recent engagement (and subsequent need to get my skincare act together, and a Sephora sale I thought it was as good a time as any to put in an order. A few items were purchased before the sale, and a few were purchased during.
Here’s what I got:
I’ve had my eye on this lipstick since it was released. I love BITE Beauty products – I even made my own lipsticks with them last year! I would have probably bought the Orange Fizz shade if it wasn’t sold out, but I do love this hot pink. The formula is very nice. It’s creamy but very long-lasting. The first time I wore it I got a bunch of compliments on the colour. If they weren’t $30 a pop (I know, I know – that’s ridiculous) I would buy the whole collection.
I was looking for a chemical exfoliant that wouldn’t be too tough on my skin, and this seemed like the perfect thing. After one use, I liked the results and my skin didn’t freak out so I’m happy to keep using them.
While I was at it, I also got a physical exfoliator!! I just wanted something that would be a nice little scrub to use a couple times a week. I like it so far, but I’m not obsessed with it or anything.
I think I’m obsessed with the Sephora Collection skincare collection? It’s pretty reasonably priced for Sephora, you know? Anyway, I really like this moisturizer. It’s pretty light-feeling. But it maaaay be breaking me out, I’m not sure yet.
I have been blessed with breakouts on my back from the tender age of 13. Over the last few years, since I’ve been a real-life adult, it hasn’t been as bad as it was when I was a teen. But it’s still not totally gone, so I figured I would try this scrub to see if it would help. This is a HARDCORE scrub though, wow.
Well folks, another VIB sale at Sephora has arrived. It comes at the perfect time to start some Christmas shopping. Most of the gift sets are out already as well, so you can get a lot of value with those. With an extra little discount, […]
Colourpop is one of my favourite makeup brands. It’s incredibly reasonably priced, and I haven’t come across many duds in their line up. It’s not the most easily accessible brand in Canada. With international shipping, duty fees, and exchange rates, the costs can add up.
A few years ago, Colourpop came into select Ulta stores. I live pretty close to the border, and take a few trips to Ulta throughout the year. I also prefer Ulta’s points system to Sephora. With every 100 points, you get $3 off your purchase. It’s usually 1 point per dollar spent, but they do promotions where you can get 2 or 3 times the points. They also almost always have a coupon of some sort going on.
Here’s what I got on my latest trip.
Pour Toujours is described as a warm pink, but I definitely find it a little more cool-toned on my skin. This was the September birthday gift this year. I’ve honestly never LOVED any of my Ulta birthday gifts until this one. It’s a great lipstick. I love the colour. The formula is long-lasting but it doesn’t feel super drying like many matte lipsticks.
I like experimenting with coloured liners, but I never really want to spend a lot of money on something that I won’t be wearing all the time. The other coloured liners I’ve used, specifically the NYX Vivid Brights ones, didn’t really live up to my expectations. They would dry and crumble, and the applicator was not easy to use.
I found that this liner was exactly what I was looking for. I loved the green colour of this liner. It was super easy to apply, and lasted throughout a work shift without any primer underneath. I would absolutely get the black one next time I’m in need.
I have previously purchased this brow gel in the clear formula and quite liked it. I was hoping that getting it in light brown, it would act like the Benefit Gimme Brow and I could skip using an eyebrow pencil. That’s not really the case though. It doesn’t build up my brows much, but it holds them in place nicely.
I’ve been wanting to try out the blush stix since they were released and was waiting for the next free international shipping promotion to try one. So I was very excited to see them in Ulta! The one I chose is a bright salmon pink. It has a lot more shimmer than I was expecting, so I skip highlighter when I wear it. I like the colour, and the stix are pigmented but blend nicely. I don’t really need any more blush, but I’d definitely consider getting another one of these.
I cashed in some of my points and I had a $3.50 off coupon, so all of this came to around $14.50.
Sephora, our higher end beauty mecca, is infamous for having very few sales. Sorry if you fell in love with a $30 mascara but can’t justify paying that every time the suggested 3 month usage period is up. Luckily, Sephora does have a sale in […]
Colourpop is one of my favourite makeup brands. They make really high-quality products for extremely reasonable prices. They have a lot of products, so there really is something for everyone. In 2018, they really went buck wild with releasing new products, such as foundations, concealers, powders and more, while still making really amazing lipsticks, eyeshadow palettes and really anything else you could think of.
The only issue for me is that it’s not the easiest brand to get in Canada.
There was a short time last year where you could buy a few selected products at Sephora, but other than that there weren’t any other Canadian retailers. You could order directly from the website, but it is $15 for shipping, unless you spend $50. It’s not too bad if you and a few friends go in on an order, but it’s very possible you’ll get hit with a duty fee if your order is $50+. Also, shipping takes quite a while. You can also buy select products from Ulta, which is great, but it’s across the border so I don’t get to go that often.
Luckily, usually once or twice a year, Colourpop offers free international shipping. I took advantage of this. Twice. Sorry, I couldn’t resist placing two orders, there was a sale on all lip products the second day. Here is what I got:
OHH LA LA! Pressed Shadow Palette – This palette was released this past year on “Mean Girls Day” aka October 3rd. And since then, I’ve wanted it. I’ve tried out Colourpop’s eyeshadow formula before and I really like it. This palette has some super interesting colours that I don’t have in my collection, and you can create way more looks with it than I expected to be able to.
Lippie Stix in Dukes and Aquarius – I tried quite a few formulas of Colourpop lipsticks, and for some reason I’ve never tried the lippie stix, despite hearing good things about them. Dukes is a matte dark blackberry which is perfect for this time of year, and Aquarius is a soft pinky nude in a crème formula. I really love these. Aquarius has become a purse staple.
No Filter Concealer in Light 14 – I’ve been dyyyyyying to try the No Filter concealer, but I was worried that this would become my new favourite concealer because I go through concealer quickly and it wouldn’t be easy to replace, and I WAS CORRECT. I really love this concealer. It has nice coverage without being too heavy. I don’t know what I’m going to do when this runs out.
Ultra Glossy Lip in Aquarius – I also had never tried anything in the Ultra Glossy formula. I’ve only recently been getting into glosses. The formula is nice, and the colour is opaque, but I really hate the applicator. It’s a weird brush like a nail polish or something. I can see the applicator getting ruined pretty quickly, but the gloss itself is nice.
Gel Liner in Best O – I already owned the black version of this liner, Swerve, and I love it. It is the only black stick liner I use. I wanted to get a burgundy colour to smudge along my lash line with eyeshadow, and Best O was the perfect colour. I love the formula and colour of this.
Crème Lux Lipstick in Angel City – I adore this lipstick formula and wanted to get another colour, and angel city seemed like a pretty neutral colour that I could wear everyday.
Fourth Ray Beauty Come Clean Cleansing duo – With my first order, I got a sample of this duo, the BFD Cleansing Oil and AM to the PM Cleanser. Fourth Ray Beauty is Colourpop’s new sister skincare line. I’ve been trying to get into double cleansing lately, so I was excited about this duo. I like both of the products, but probably not to make them a staple.
