Boxycharm – January 2019
I had taken a couple months off of my Boxycharm subscription. It was time to take a break. It is one of the pricier beauty box subscriptions out there (totally worth it IMO), but I figured with the doom and gloom of January that I deserved a treat (I am very good at justifying things) and thought a Boxycharm would be a great treat. All of the products had been released at that point, so I knew what would be coming in the box, and I was pretty excited about all of the products.
Here’s what I got:
Starlooks Luxe Longwear Eyeliner in Black * – $19 USD – It’s never a bad thing to receive a regular black eyeliner. It’s definitely going to go to use. It’s not the most life-changing eyeliner I’ve ever tried, and I wouldn’t pay $19 for it, but it’s decent. I like that it’s a roll up eyeliner rather than one you have to sharpen. I’m usually too lazy to sharpen those ones when necessary and end up scraping wood shards across my eyelids.
Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair Strength + Moisturising Leave-in Mask 2oz *– $16 USD – I was really excited to get this. I’ve never tried anything from Briogeo – they tend to be a little more expensive than I’m willing to pay. I love leave-in hair masks, and I find that it works well.
OFRA Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick in Havana Nights * – $20 USD – This was my favourite thing in the box. It was a variation product, so you could have also received a different colour of this formula, a BITE Amuse Bouche Lipstick, or a Smith & Cult Lip Gloss. This is the lipstick and colour I wanted most. I’ve received an OFRA lipstick in a past Boxycharm and I loved it. This colour is a deep brick red and it is STUNNING. OFRA has a very comfortable, yet long-wearing liquid lipstick formula.
Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Highlighting Eyeshadow Palette V.3 – $36 USD – There was 3 variations of this product in the boxes this month, and I would say I received the blandest version of it. It’s okay though, it’s a nice palette. The shimmers work well, but you can’t really get a variety of looks from it, since a lot of the shades tend to look the same on the eyes.
Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Face Mask (2-pack) – $24 USD – Let me start off with I would never in a million years pay $12 for one face mask, unless it started printing out dollar bills. That being said, it was a reaaaally nice mask and my skin felt so good after it.
I was happy with this month’s Boxycharm, and it’s a great treat for me every once in a while. The total value of the box is $115 USD, the cost of it is $21 USD. For me, with conversion and shipping it usually works out to be $35 CAD. The true value depends on whether or not you feel like you would get use out of most of the products in the box, and I felt like this was the case with this box. I feel like I will regularly use everything I received.
