Influenster Voxbox – Kat Von D True Portrait Foundation
I received these products complimentary from Influenster and Kat Von D for review. I was looking forward to trying a new high-end foundation. I don’t often buy high-end foundation unless it’s on sale, so it was great that this one was coming to my door.
Here’s what I got in the Voxbox:
First of all, the packing on this foundation is truly stunning. I love having it on my vanity just to look out. The foundation – not quite as beautiful as the packaging. The shade match is good for me, but also reminds me how pale I am. The bottle is actually squeezy, and you’re meant to squeeze it on your hands and rub it in. I don’t find that’s really the best way to apply it. I prefer using a brush.
Because it’s liquid-to-powder, I don’t find it layers well and it’s hard to build up. The description says it’s medium coverage, which I think is true. I just don’t find it covers blemishes suuuuper well. The more I use it, the more I like it. It’s decently long-wearing. It’s also suggested to moisturize well before using the foundation.
I don’t think this is going to become my holy grail foundation anytime soon. Nor do I think I would recommend spending over $50 CAD on it.
I think it’s time for this mascara to go home, because it does not go big. This is quite possibly one of the most boring mascaras I’ve ever used. It’s supposed to be very volumizing but I don’t agree with that. It’s a nice mascara for low-key, everyday makeup. But no one wants to spend $30 for a basic mascara. Skip this one.
This is been a favourite liquid liner for a lot of people for a long time. It’s been my go-to black liner for a couple years now. I don’t wear black liner a whole lot. I find it a little harsh on my face. This is a good eyeliner. I have greasy eyelids, and it doesn’t wear off, but I do find it transfers, even if I set it. I haven’t really been able to find a significantly better black eyeliner, so I continue to use this one.
