Mexico – Downtown Cabo

After briefly visiting Downtown Cabo on our way to the boat tour, we decided that we’d like to make a morning out of visiting again. We could get a taxi from our hotel for about $3 US per person, and it took maybe 10 minutes to get there.

The marina is a cool place to be. There are a number of little shops and restaurants along the water. You will be asked multiple times if you’d like to take a boat tour/water taxi/fishing trip, but that’s to be expected in a high-tourist area.

There is also a large mall with a bunch of stores, both high-end and more affordable.

We walked around town enjoying the sights, sounds and gorgeous colours of Cabo.

After hearing about it on this episode of Doughboys, I thought it would be a good idea to stop at the flagship Cabo Wabo Cantina, Sammy Hagar’s restaurant, for a drink and maybe a bite to eat.

Unsurprisingly, it was a little pricey, so we didn’t get anything to eat, just a couple of margaritas. We weren’t super impressed by the ambiance of the place either. It seemed small, and nothing special. It wasn’t until we left out of a different spot than we came in that we saw the more fun part of the restaurant. I think if we had realized, and gone in through the main entrance we would have enjoyed it more. Either way, I’d give it a pass.

We had a good time walking around town. We got a couple souvenirs while we were there. My favourite part was being able to see the pelicans and sea lions.
