I received these products complimentary for review from Indeed Labs and Topbox Circle. I’ve been trying to get more into skincare. I currently have combination skin, with some dry patches and I still deal with breakouts. I was really excited about the products I received […]

Okay, so what if August is almost over??? It’s never too late to let you know about all the products I’ve used up in the last few months. You may argue there is actually never a good time to tell you about them. But I bet if you weren’t even slightly interested, you wouldn’t have clicked this link anyway.
I received this travel-size of this infamous cream in a Boxycharm box last year. After all of the hype I heard about it, I didn’t think it was possible to live up to the hype. Well, I was wrong. This is really the best smelling cream I’ve ever used. The cream itself is also very nice. Do I think that the full-size is worth almost $60?? No, not really. But, you can often get a good deal with one of their sets at Sephora (like this one here). Would I buy it again? Who am I kidding, I probably would. I actually bought a similar set to the one linked above last year.
I don’t really love spending a lot of money on products you can’t see – like an eyeshadow base. This was a decently cheap product, and I’ve heard it worked pretty well. Now, I’ve been blessed with greasy eyelids so a lot of the time eyeshadow just glides right off. This base didn’t really help my case. I thought I was resigned to creased eyeshadow for the rest of my life until I started using this Wet ‘N Wild one that was recommended to me. Now THAT keeps my eyeshadow on. This essence one? Not so much. Would I buy it again? Nope.
This has been my go-to setting spray for a while now, but I think this was my last bottle. I gravitated towards it because it was so cheap. It’s just not doing it for me anymore though. It’s a decent-ish setting spray, but it’s not overly special or anything. Would I buy it again? No.
Sheet masks aren’t my favourite. I feel like they’re kind of wasteful, and I never really notice a huge difference. I received 3 of these masks in a Boxycharm box and I was excited to use them. I thought they were find, but not worth their $16 price tag. I don’t think I could ever find a sheet mask that expensive would be though. Would I buy it again? Probably not.
Welcome to this month’s edition of what soap did we use up! This month was Spiced Mandarin. Sure, it’s not the most summery scent that was in the cupboard, but my boyfriend is picky about handsoap scents. I really liked this scent! Would I buy it again? Yes.
Mascara is the underrated hero of make up. It’s never the most exciting product, but if you’re not wearing it, someone will inevitably tell you that you look kind of tired. I love trying out new mascaras. Even more so, I love getting mascaras sent to me by Influenster to try out for free.
Here’s my thing with mascara – I don’t like high end mascaras. Not that I don’t ACTUALLY like them, but like, you kind find perfectly good, if not great, mascaras at the drugstore for a fraction of the price.
What I look for in a mascara:
- Lengthening – I want long, lucious bambi lashes, okay?
- Non-clumpy – I don’t love the spidery lash look on me
- Easy to get off at the end of the day – I like when my mascara stays on through the day, but it comes off easyish at night because I am lazy and usually give up and end up with a raccoon-eyes-look reminiscent of my grade 8 graduation make up
- No-Transfer – again, trying to not rock the raccoon eyes thing, because I cannot pull it off like they can
- Not a necessity, but I do prefer a rubber bristle wand
Okay, anyway, I got the new Revlon Volumazing Mascara in the mail, complimentary for review from Influenster and Revlon. This mascara promises:
- No smudging or flaking for up to 24 hours
- Ultra-creamy, amplifying formula infused with nourishing Olive Oil for a soft, fanned out look
- Turn-it-up brush with a curved centre and wavy filaments to hug each last while holding the optimal amount of each product
First things first – for the most part, Influenster sends out full-sized products. This is a delxue sample at best. Which is FINE, a free mascara is a free mascara, but something to note.
I’ve been wearing it for a few days straight and my verdict – it is a perfectly fine mascara. It’s nothing mind-blowing. I don’t find my lashes look particularly lengthened, thickened, or nourished. It does come of easily at the end of the day which I appreciate. It’s just like, a decent, not super special mascara. From Revlon alone I prefer the Mega Multiplier mascara. This is a mascara I will definitely keep using. It’s nice for travel. It’s also good for the days where I want to look like I’m not wearing make up, but I definitely AM wearing make up, you know. Anyway, I wouldn’t rebuy this once it ran out and I don’t think I would recommend this to you, there are 5000 other perfectly decent and better mascaras at the drug store for you to try.
