The Challenge Not only have we been watching this current season of The Challenge, but we have been going back and watching some older seasons in our boredom. Ethan has shown some interest in the show during his first season of viewing. I asked on […]
We are in the throes of December, which means a very holiday/wintery version of What I’ve been watching this week!! Elf Elf is my all-time favourite movie. Sorry! That’s just the way it is!! In my heyday I would watch it 3 or 4 times […]
Ex on the Beach
The latest season of Ex on the Beach finished up a few weeks ago, but I hadn’t been able to get to the last few episodes until this week. I liked this season better than last season, but it’s still missing the charm of the British version.
Ex on the Peak is arriving in December. Based on the cast and previews I’ve seen, I have high hopes for that.
The Challenge has been really stellar this season. I always look forward to watching the newest episodes. It’s kind of nice that a lot of the big names went out early so it gives other characters a chance to shine.
The latest episode was, uh, not my favourite I’d say. The Jordan-Turbo fighting storyline is just not for me. And I don’t know how much longer I can take Cara Maria’s sanctimoniousness. To hear me talk all about the latest episode, check out the Dom and Colin podcast with Matt and Brian here.
RuPaul’s Drag Race UK
This season has been perfection. Everything about it has been wonderful. It’s been an absolute joy to watch. The latest girl groups episode was my favourite of the season. It felt very true to girl groups, and was an interesting and fun challenge. I really hope this spark can be injected into the new US season of the show.
The Challenge The newest season of The Challenge started a few weeks ago. This season we see the Americans face off against the Brits. I love seeing a team challenge, we haven’t seen one in ages. I don’t have high hopes that it will stay […]
Love Island US
I’ve been having a great time watching Love Island US. It has really surpassed any expectations I had for the show. Which were very few. I’m sorry! I was skeptical that CBS wouldn’t completely screw up a show that worked so well. The twists keep coming, but it’s nothing that doesn’t feel Love Islandish. I’m glad that the first few couples haven’t been locked in, and there really is a lot of fluidity with the relationships.
Ex on the Beach
For another show that was taken from the Brits, the third season of EOTB USA has arrived. The cast has some high points and low points, so it will be interesting to see how this all plays out.
I like that they fill the cast with reality tv people because it takes less time to get to know everyone. It’s a real trip seeing a former Big Brother player make out with Aubry O’Day.
I didn’t loooove the second season of this show, and I don’t find that it really lives up to its British counterpart.
Love Island UK – Series 4
After falling back in love with Love Island, I decided to pick up where I left off on watching the 4th series of Love Island. I fell off the wagon with it because I think I burned myself out a bit. It is 50 hour long episodes after all.
I am back in on this season, and the pace is really picking up at the end.
We’ve gotten the first part of the two-night finale for what is said to be the most dramatic season (aren’t they all). I was shocked at the elimination of Peter at the final 3. I really thought he was a lock for the final two from the beginning. And I am disappointed. I really like Peter and Tyler, and I think Jed kind of sucks. So I can only assume he wins it all.
And they eluded to some drama for after the final rose, which I’m sure means something to do with the Jed and his girlfriend ~drama~.
Taskmaster Series 2
After a long work weekend, I wanted to watch a show that I know I loved that provides a lot of laughs. I have made my love for Taskmaster very clear. I have watched series 2 more times than I can count, and I still LOL at many moments. If you are thinking about starting Taskmaster (please do) I recommend starting with the first episode of series 2. It is the perfect encapsulation of everything that Taskmaster is.
Taskmaster I am so glad that my favourite show is back. In the 9th season of Taskmaster, 5 comedians/presenters/general brits on tv come together to complete tasks and then watch each other complete the tasks. Sounds not great in concept, but holy F is it […]
Love Island Season 3
Okay, it took me a while but now I am fully on board with Love Island. It only took 30 episodes. That’s not even hyperbole. I have finally been able to connect with the people on the show and the relationships between them. It’s been fun to see how supportive the women are of each other because that’s often not the case on reality shows. Camilla is one of my favourite people to ever be on reality television.
I am on the verge of finishing season 3, and I will definitely be watching season 4. My expectations were that this show would have a closer resemblance to Ex on the Beach, but it’s not nearly as trashy (not that I am against trash tv, you know I love it.)
This show defied my expectations, and I think the reason I couldn’t get into at first was because it was different than what I thought it would be.
A Shot at Love
Like I said previously, I am not against trash reality shows. This is one of them. Did I watch the original iterations of a Shot of Love nearly a decade ago? Of course. Terrible television has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember.
This new version of a Shot of Love features Jersey Shore bros Pauly D and Vinny as they BOTH try and find love with the same women. I’m looking forward to seeing how this plays out. If Pauly’s stint on Game of Clones is any indication, it may not.
Bon Appetit Gourmet Makes videos I was recently introduced to a series of videos in which Former Bon Appetit Senior Food Editor, Claire Saffitz, attempts to make gourmet versions of your favourite junk food. As many of you may know, I love food television. I […]
