Eulogizing Survivor: Winners at War

Eulogizing Survivor: Winners at War

Here we are, the morning after another season finale of Survivor. In many ways, it’s hard to believe this season even happened. This show has been on for 20 years, an accomplishment in itself. We got 20 winners to come and play again for the […]

What I’ve been watching this week – April 6

Nailed It What a joy this show is!! I mentioned Nailed It in my favourite ‘comfort’ shows post because it just makes me so happy to watch it. Nailed It is back with its fourth season on Netflix, and it’s just as wonderful as always. […]

My Favourite ‘Comfort’ Shows

My Favourite ‘Comfort’ Shows

We are living in a weird, uncertain time that leaves us grasping for any sense of joy and normalcy. One way to do that, in my humble opinion, is to sit down with a few of your favourite comfort shows (also go for a walk outside).

Here are my favourite comfort shows:

Great British Baking Show

Any iteration of the Baking Show/Bake-Off feels like a warm blanket. The show is a competition, sure, but there’s no cutthroat element to it. Every season the cast makes beautiful bakes all while being incredibly wonderful and supportive to each other. It’s a beautiful, warm, wonderful show.

Where to watch it: CBC Gem in Canada, Netflix in USA

Taskmaster

I have been saying this is my favourite show for a couple years now. My dear friend Lauren introduced it to me, and I’ve been trying to make as many people watch it as I can. It is incredibly funny and creative. I have seen every season multiple times and I genuinely laugh out loud during every single episode.

Pointless

Pointless is one of my favourite British game shows. It kind of has the opposite premise of Family Feud. A question is asked, and the goal is to say an answer that the least amount of people have said. It’s fun and I love trying to answer the questions.

Nailed It

Nailed It is a perfect show. I combines my two favourite things – comedy and cooking shows. It makes me laugh so hard and it feels very relatable. I believe a new season is coming out in the next few weeks which will be a godsend.

Where to watch it: Netflix

The Kitchen

Oh boy do I love the kitchen. I’d say we have at least 50 episodes on the PVR. It’s a great show for accessible cooking from some really great chefs. The recipes make sense to people who cook at home. I’ve picked up a lot of great tips from watching The Kitchen. It’s also just so light-hearted and fun.

Where to watch it: The Cooking Channel, Food Network, The Global TV App

What I’ve been watching this week – October 22

America’s Next Top Model Cycle 10 & 11 I did it again guys. I accidentally fell into another ANTM binge dark hole. There are these videos on YouTube that are literally 8 hours long and it’s every episode. Which makes it perfect for a work […]

What I’ve been watching this week – September 9

Taskmaster Series 9 The new season of Taskmaster has just begun! I know I keep saying this, but Taskmaster is truly the best and funniest show I’ve ever seen. Sure, I have the tendency to be hyperbolic, but I mean it! This new season is […]

21 Jump Street

We were flicking through channels the other day and 21 Jump Street (the movie version) was juuust starting and we accidentally got hooked and watch the whole thing. We did switch to watch the movie on Netflix so we didn’t have to watch commercials.

I forgot how much I liked this movie. It brought back memories that I saw this not once, but TWICE in theatres. Gosh, what an all-star line up in this movie, I couldn’t believe it. Anyway, I thought it was great.

Love Island Series 5

I’m still trucking along in the latest season of Love Island. Still enjoying it, it’s just in a little bit of a lull for me right now.

Bachelor in Paradise

Things are still pretty exciting a couple weeks into BIP. This is usually when the season starts to slow down because everyone is in a committed couple by now. There is still quite a bit of fluidity going on with the pairings, so that is good to watch. I am really enjoying this season. I love that we are seeing Demi’s relationship with Kristian. BIP is great because you get to see more facets of the cast’s personality. Much more than you see on their OG season.

We were joined by Survivor’s Rob Cesternino last week to break down everything that’s been going on in Paradise so far.
