RuPaul’s Drag Race UK I finally got around to watching the finale of Drag Race UK. I thought it was a great finale, and I thought the winner was very deserving of the title. I thought both queens in the final two could have easily […]

With me getting some casual knee surgery last week, I had quite a bit of time to watch tv. What makes that different than any other week you ask? Well, pretty much nothing, except my food network marathons were much longer than usual.
This week was a big one. Not only was it the merge episode, which is always a turning point in the season, but it was also when it was revealed to those still in the game what the Edge of Extinction really is. It was a fun episode, but I’m still not quite hooked on this season. Listen to me chat about this episode of Survivor with Rob Cesternino on RHAP here.
This Netflix docu-series was recommended to me by my brother. It follows Chef David Chang as he discovers different iterations of our favourite foods. I am really enjoying this show, but I don’t think it’s a an easy show to binge. Which is fine! It gives me more time to enjoy it. I love the way the stories are told, and the editing that goes into each episode. It is a fun exploration into foods we know, love, and probably don’t think about with much depth.
Guys Big Bite
Hi, my name is Haley Strong and I just might be the world’s biggest Guy Fieri apologist. I spent more or less an entire day of watching Guy cook food in his great backyard kitchen with some of his Food Network friends and I LOVED IT.
RuPaul’s Drag Race season 11
We’re a couple weeks deep into this season of Drag Race and I’m not quite sold on it yet. There are a couple queens that I am loving, but I don’t know! I don’t really know why I’m not loving this season, but I did enjoy this latest episode. I love a ball, and I think the Monster Ball was a cool twist that gave the queens the chance to use a lot of imagination in their looks.
Are You the One Season 5 – I hadn’t seen this season since it originally aired. A couple of cast members from this season have moved on to other shows including Ex on the Beach and The Challenge. I forgot what hot messes all these people are. It’s interesting to go back and watch (SPOILER ALERT) the only losing cast in Are You the One history, and see where they went wrong, and where maybe they had some decks stacked against them. In earlier seasons, the cast was helped a lot more. In this season, especially near the end, there was almost a feeling that production wanted them to lose this. The last challenge was completely random who would being going into the truth booth. I think this season is where I started to love this show a little less.
Top Chef Kentucky – This week we saw the conclusion to the two-part episode of the infamous Restaurant Wars challenge. It was early in the season because they wanted to use a three-team format. I quite liked the three teams format because often times during Restaurant Wars, the challenge is a blow out, and you more or less know which team is going to lose, and who is going to go home. In this iteration, you could tell which team was doing better, but no team was pulling ahead of the others. I didn’t think it was a bad choice to have two people go home in this episode, I feel like it made a lot of sense. The underperformer of the two losing teams each went home. I was sad because one of my favourite cheftestants this season went home so early, but it was clear they were going to based on what was happening.
RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 9 – Drag Race has been my bedtime show for a couple of months now. Since all the seasons are now on Netflix, it’s super easy to just keep them playing. I have been watching season 9 the last week. It wasn’t my favourite season when it was on, and it’s not my favourite season in a rewatch. I think the challenges are a little odd, and don’t really show the queens’ skills off. Also one queen had to be MEDEVACED FOR THE FIRST TIME IN DRAG RACE HISTORY!!!!
RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 4 – We have had 3 iterations of RPDR (plus a holiday special!!) in one calendar year, which is truly insane. But that does not mean I wasn’t super excited for the premiere. The episode followed what has become the […]
This was the week that I’ve finally gotten into the holiday spirit with my viewing habits. A Christmas Prince: The Royal Wedding – This was a sequel to 2017’s much-beloved holiday movie A Christmas Prince where a journalist goes undercover as a tutor to get […]
Great Canadian Baking Show Season 2 – GCBS ended a few weeks ago, but I just finally caught up with the final two episodes of the season. Once again, it was adorably charming. Emma and Dan, the hosts are SO GOOD. They exude the quirky, fun spirit of bake off. If you love the British version, you will love this one as well. The American version is starting back up again soon, and I can’t wait!
Love Island Season 1 – Love Island has been the talk of the town for a while now. It’s a British show that follows young hot people trying to find love (or some version of it) on a sunny island. This had my name written alllllll over it. I finally began to watch it, and like, I’m not obsessed yet? I’d say I’m about 5 or 6 episodes in (of a nearly 40 episode season), so I think there will be time for my love to grow. It’s just a big commitment! I love when my shows have a solid 10 episode run. I will definitely keep watching.
Top Chef Kentucky Preview – One of my absolute favourite shows is coming back this week and I CANNOT WAIT. i love Top Chef. It’s in a tier of its own when it comes to reality shows. I love it so much. I also like looking at food. If I wasn’t already excited before, this preview got me amped up. I will also be podcasting about Top Chef again over on Rob Has a Podcast.
RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 4 RuVeal – I can’t believe Drag Race is coming back for another All Star season – that makes 3 in the last 3 years. But please don’t take that as a complaint, I am EXCITED. Drag Race continues to be an amazing show. Although it streamed a couple weeks ago, I finally got around to watching Trixie, Katya, and Detox discuss the cast of the newest season. I thought this was a really fun way to re-introduce everyone in the cast to the audience. Can’t wait!!
RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 7 & 6 – Okay, the entire series being on Netflix might be one of the best things that have ever happened to me. I finished watching season 7 this week (although, I skipped the finale – for whatever reason the […]
