The Bachelor has named their new lead, even though Clare Crawley‘s season of The Bachelorette hasn’t even been filmed yet. In an unprecedented move, ABC has announced that a Black man, Matt James, will be their new Bachelor. He may seem familiar, even if he […]
We are living in a weird, uncertain time that leaves us grasping for any sense of joy and normalcy. One way to do that, in my humble opinion, is to sit down with a few of your favourite comfort shows (also go for a walk outside).
Here are my favourite comfort shows:
Great British Baking Show
Any iteration of the Baking Show/Bake-Off feels like a warm blanket. The show is a competition, sure, but there’s no cutthroat element to it. Every season the cast makes beautiful bakes all while being incredibly wonderful and supportive to each other. It’s a beautiful, warm, wonderful show.
Where to watch it: CBC Gem in Canada, Netflix in USA
I have been saying this is my favourite show for a couple years now. My dear friend Lauren introduced it to me, and I’ve been trying to make as many people watch it as I can. It is incredibly funny and creative. I have seen every season multiple times and I genuinely laugh out loud during every single episode.
Where to watch it: Youtube
Pointless is one of my favourite British game shows. It kind of has the opposite premise of Family Feud. A question is asked, and the goal is to say an answer that the least amount of people have said. It’s fun and I love trying to answer the questions.
Where to watch it: Youtube
Nailed It is a perfect show. I combines my two favourite things – comedy and cooking shows. It makes me laugh so hard and it feels very relatable. I believe a new season is coming out in the next few weeks which will be a godsend.
Where to watch it: Netflix
Oh boy do I love the kitchen. I’d say we have at least 50 episodes on the PVR. It’s a great show for accessible cooking from some really great chefs. The recipes make sense to people who cook at home. I’ve picked up a lot of great tips from watching The Kitchen. It’s also just so light-hearted and fun.
Where to watch it: The Cooking Channel, Food Network, The Global TV App
America’s Next Top Model Sorry, I am in a full-blown ANTM spiral. I’d like to thank the YouTube channel Top Model Channel for this. This week they posted the marathons of Cycles 15 and 16. I had seen cycle 15 before, but I think maybe […]
Richard Osman’s House of Games
We discovered Richard Osman’s House of Games this week through my YouTube recommendations, and we are OBSESSED.
It’s a daily show with 4 celebrities that battle it out over 5 rounds of quiz questions. The questions have a different spin on usual quiz shows, which is part of what has made watching it so fun. The final round is always ‘Answer Smash’, in which you see a photo or a song and you’re given a clue and you have to smash them together for the answer. It’s pretty similar to Jeopardy’s ‘Before and After’ category.
This is a charming show, with a lot of episodes to dig through and I can’t wait.
I discovered Pointless while we were in Iceland. I mentioned that I would love to be able to find this show and watch it again. It was super exciting to find it online, and it was the celebrity version! I usually know one or two people per episode, which makes it even more fun to watch.
Sharp Objects I’ve been trying to get around to watching the shows on my ‘Shows I promise I’m going to watch in 2019‘ list. This is only going mildly well. Anyway, Sharp Objects was on this list. I read Sharp Objects in the winter and […]
America’s Next Top Model Cycle 10 & 11 I did it again guys. I accidentally fell into another ANTM binge dark hole. There are these videos on YouTube that are literally 8 hours long and it’s every episode. Which makes it perfect for a work […]
The newest season of The Challenge started a few weeks ago. This season we see the Americans face off against the Brits. I love seeing a team challenge, we haven’t seen one in ages. I don’t have high hopes that it will stay teams until the very end, though. Like with any season of The Challenge, there’s been lots of drama so far. I’m really enjoying this season even though we’re only a few episodes in.
Are You The One
The ‘come one, come all’ theme of this season was exactly what AYTO needed to bring life into a format that’s getting a little stale. Now that the season is over, I can say that it was easily one of my favourites. The cast was fantastic. I liked that it was a smaller cast, so we were able to get to know more people. I’d love to see them do another season like this.
The second series of Derry Girls came to Netflix a couple months ago. I absolutely fell in love with the first series. It was so funny and endearing, and I was hoping that the second series would live up to it. There was no need to worry. The second series was amazing. I loved it so much. It even brought a little bit of an emotional element into the second half of the series. It was so magical and wonderful. Please watch it.
I promised in a What I’m Going To Watch This Year post a couple of months ago that I was going to watch Schitt’s Creek. I did start it, but kind of put it on the back burner. Well, I’m back baby. I’m firing through the episodes now. It is such a brilliant show. It sure helps that it’s a Canadian show too!
Taskmaster Series 9 The new season of Taskmaster has just begun! I know I keep saying this, but Taskmaster is truly the best and funniest show I’ve ever seen. Sure, I have the tendency to be hyperbolic, but I mean it! This new season is […]
