What I’ve been watching this week – November 19

America’s Next Top Model Cycle 8 & 5 – Wow, I am just very deep in the black hole of America’s Next Top Model. It’s like I’m a teenager all over again. I watched another 2 seasons this week. I said last week that I think the 6-8 was the the best run of the show. In watching Cycle 5, it just cemented that. Of course I enjoyed it, but it wasn’t quite as charming and fun as the other few seasons I’ve watched recently.

RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 7¬†– BOY was I excited this week when I realized that seasons 2 -9 were now available on Netflix. I hopped immediately into season 7. It’s not the most loved season of RPDR, but I really like it. I’m excited to watch all of the seasons again.

Survivor¬†– WOW. Survivor has been incredible this season, and the latest episode was the best of the season. The final tribal was outstanding and exciting in a way that Survivor hasn’t really been in the last few seasons. It’s possible that everyone had really low expectations for this season, due to the contrived theme, so we are all just impressed. This has been a fun season to watch, mainly because the cast is so dynamite. I don’t want anyone to go each week, and I feel like we’ve gotten to know everyone pretty well.

Food Network Holiday Shows – It’s the most wonderful time of the year – when the Food Network airs all of its holiday programming. Holiday Baking Championship, Christmas Cookie Showdown, and Gingerbread Giants are all airing on rotation from now until Christmas and I don’t mind it at all. Don’t mind me, I will be watching these shows all day every day.

Are You the One – Another season has come and gone. This definitely wasn’t my favourite season. The cast was hard to connect with. Maybe because I am older than all of them at this point, or maybe the cast was just absurd. I though the lack of challenges had a negative impact on the season – we didn’t get a lot of the little character moments the challenges provide, and instead that time was filled with unnecessary, prolonged drama. It was also a little unsatisfying to see them get 4 beams the entire time, and then in the last ceremony they get 10. It’s possible they did it on their own, but it’s not super believable. It’s better when you can see their progression of figuring out the puzzle throughout the season.
